Astronomy Special: First Solar Eclipse of 2026 to Dazzle Skywatchers

The first and one of the most spectacular astronomical events of 2026 is just hours away. Today’s solar eclipse will be annular in nature, commonly known in astronomical terms as the “Ring of Fire.” During this rare celestial event, the Moon will not completely cover the Sun. Instead, it will pass directly in front of it, leaving a bright outer ring visible around the darkened Moon — creating a stunning “ring of fire” effect in the sky. Although this solar eclipse will not be visible in India, it will be observed in parts of Antarctica, southern Africa, and South America. According to Indian Standard Time (IST), the eclipse will begin at 3:26:06 PM and conclude at 7:57 PM. Skywatchers in the visible regions are expected to witness a breathtaking astronomical phenomenon as the first solar eclipse of 2026 lights up the skies with its unique annular formation.
