The Amarnath Yatra has officially begun with the first convoy of pilgrims being flagged off from Jammu by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at 4:00 AM. The pilgrimage will allow devotees to begin darshan of Baba Barfani from July 3 via Baltal and July 4 via Pahalgam, marking the start of the 57-day journey. While elaborate security arrangements involving the Army, CRPF, BSF, and Jammu & Kashmir Police have been deployed across the route, large crowds at the Pahalgam base camp have led to confusion and chaos in the registration process. Many devotees reported waiting in long queues since midnight, but faced unclear instructions regarding on-the-spot registration and token distribution. As crowds grew, authorities were forced to relocate several pilgrims and manage overcrowding. Despite repeated efforts, confusion over shifting registration counters has caused frustration among devotees, some of whom have been moving between locations for hours. However, pilgrims continue to show strong faith and determination to complete the journey and seek blessings at the holy cave, even amid logistical challenges and administrative delays.
