'We'll see how it is': Donald Trump gives Hamas 3-4 days to accept Gaza 'peace plan'; warns of 'sad end' if rejected

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced that Hamas has “three to four days” to accept the Gaza peace proposal he presented alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the previous day.”We’re going to do about three or four days. We’ll see how it is. All of the Arab countries are signed up. The Muslim countries are all signed up. Israel is all signed up,” said Trump while talking to reporters, as quoted by CNN.When CNN’s Alayna Treene questioned him about the timeframe, Trump indicated that Hamas’s refusal would result in severe consequences, stating, “We’re just waiting for Hamas, and Hamas is either going to be doing it or not, and if it’s not, it’s going to be a very sad end.”Following Netanyahu’s acceptance of the 20-point plan, Trump has expressed optimism about ending the Gaza conflict. However, the proposal requires Hamas’s approval, and several provisions within the plan have previously been rejected by the organisation. The proposal urges Hamas to disarm and surrender in exchange for a ceasefire, humanitarian aid, and commitments to rebuild Gaza — measures urgently needed by residents of the war-ravaged enclave, where the death toll has exceeded 66,000 Palestinians, according to a recent report from Gaza’s Health Ministry.

‘Will study Trump’s peace plan’: Hamas

Hamas said Tuesday that it will discuss Trump’s peace plan for Gaza internally and with other Palestinian factions before issuing a response, as reported by AP. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has already expressed his support, but it remains unclear whether Hamas will agree or when it will respond. The proposal calls for Hamas to disarm in exchange for an end to hostilities, humanitarian aid for Palestinians, and promises of reconstruction in Gaza — measures urgently needed in a territory devastated by war, where the death toll has surpassed 66,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.Meanwhile, the plan has received backing from the international community. Trump and Netanyahu said after talks Monday at the White House that they had reached an agreement on the proposal.Read more: Hamas to review Trump’s Gaza plan after rejection
