'We don't need an Indian to tell us…': Social media grills Vivek Ramaswamy for preaching the 'American Dream'

Ex-DOGE lead and Republican Ohio governor candidate Vivek Ramaswamy praised the enduring value of the American Dream and explained to his supporters why it is so important. The Indian-origin GOP figure put down the idea of other national “dreams,” saying, “There’s no Canadian Dream. There’s no British Dream. There’s no Chinese Dream. It’s called the American Dream for a reason. It’s what makes American exceptionalism possible.”Ramaswamy is of Indian origin and has faced backlash from some conservative segments of the MAGA base who favour white nationalism and have even called for his deportation. Despite this, he continues to maintain strong support within the Republican Party. He has received backing from US President Donald Trump in his campaign for Ohio governor. Vivek is up against Democratic candidate Amy Acton in the upcoming 2026 race.

Social media response

  • imagine thinking your special because you call having aspirations for a happy life a dream like a disney princess?
  • It’s not a dream for the youth who are never going to own a home with these 50 year mortgages. Snake oil salesman.
  • Just like a normal dream, once you wake up you realize the American Dream isn’t real.
  • We don’t need an Indian to tell us what the American dream is, you should be deported
  • We need to remove all H-1Bs, and impose a (minimum) 50-year total immigration moratorium.
  • Because doing well in life doesn’t have to be a dream in other counties?

Ramaswamy has often become the target of xenophobic and racist attacks. During Halloween this year, he shared a photo with his two young children on X which drew a stream of sly attacks social media.
