Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi surprised attendees at a major international finance conference by quoting a well known line from the hit manga and anime series Attack on Titan as she urged global investors to put their money into Japan, reports Japan Times. Speaking at the “I think you understand what I would like to ask,” she said, “Japan is back. Invest in Japan.”During the question and answer session, Takaichi explained that her government intends to raise Japan’s economic growth potential and improve confidence in its fiscal management at the same time. She said the administration plans to pursue a strong economy through strategic fiscal spending while gradually strengthening debt indicators.More than 1,000 business leaders and executives from Japan and other countries attended the conference, which is often referred to as “Davos in the Desert.” The gathering also marked the seventieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Saudi Arabia. Among the speakers was SoftBank Group Chairman and CEO Masayoshi Son.Japan and Saudi Arabia continue to expand their economic partnership as part of Riyadh’s Vision 2030 plan, which aims to grow the private sector. Takaichi said, “We are accelerating efforts to promote supply chain cooperation between Japanese and Saudi enterprises.”
