UAE launches Dubai+: New free streaming platform with 30,000 hours of content

Dubai+ debuts as a free, family-focused streaming platform / AI Image

The UAE’s media landscape has officially entered a new era with the launch of Dubai Plus, a homegrown streaming platform designed specifically for Emirati and Arab audiences. Unveiled by Dubai Media, this digital destination aims to bridge the gap between traditional TV and modern on-demand viewing. Unlike global giants that cater to a universal audience, Dubai Plus is laser-focused on local identity. It serves as a digital archive and a fresh stage for Emirati talent, ensuring that the rich heritage, humor, and drama of the UAE are accessible to anyone with an internet connection, anywhere in the world.

Dubai+ – Free family streaming hub

Dubai+ is a new digital media platform launched by the UAE Media Office and approved by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aiming to reflect the evolving digital media landscape and support the emirate’s creative economy. The platform is designed to serve family audiences across all ages and further strengthen Dubai’s position as a regional content hub.Unlike global subscription services, Dubai+ is currently free to use, with no subscription charges mentioned at launch. Users can access content through the Dubai+ app on devices and download programmes for offline viewing. This launch marks a new phase in how official Emirati and regional media connect with audiences online, blending entertainment with cultural storytelling.

What’s available on Dubai+?

Dubai+ offers a large library of content, reportedly around 30,000 hours, spanning TV shows, films, children’s programming, documentaries and more. The catalogue includes:

  • Local and Arab series and films that reflect regional voices and storytelling traditions.
  • International programmes catering to diverse tastes, not limited to just Arabic content.
  • Reality shows, entertainment and cultural programmes showcasing lifestyle and media from the region.
  • Children’s content and family-friendly films, making it suitable for all ages.
  • Live sports streaming, with broadcasts of major events and championships coming directly from Dubai.

New content is said to be added regularly for example, every Thursday, which keeps the library fresh and engaging for frequent visitors. While the focus is on a family audience and Arab cultural content, the inclusion of international shows gives Dubai+ broader appeal across diverse viewer groups.

Does it replace Netflix?

The short answer is no, but it isn’t trying to. While Netflix and Disney+ focus on Hollywood blockbusters and international “Originals,” Dubai Plus is positioning itself as a complementary service. It fills the “cultural gap” that global platforms often miss. It is unlikely to replace your subscription to Stranger Things or The Crown, but it is set to become the primary app for anyone wanting high-quality, culturally relevant Arabic content. It is effectively the digital “Majlis” of entertainment, providing a level of local representation that international platforms simply cannot match.

Price, and access

Perhaps the most surprising detail about Dubai Plus is the price: it is completely free. Users can download the app on iOS, Android, and various Smart TV platforms without a monthly subscription fee. By keeping it free, Dubai Media is ensuring that every resident and expat can access high-quality Arabic entertainment regardless of their budget. Go to Source
