UAE enters the Casino World: First luxury resort set to open in Ras Al Khaimah in 2027

Wynn Al Marjan Island, Ras Al Khaimah’s first integrated luxury resort. It showcases the massive development’s high-end amenities and stunning beachfront location, redefining what visitors can expect from a resort lifestyle in the region.

Ras Al Khaimah is preparing for a landmark moment in its history with the upcoming opening of Wynn Al Marjan Island, the UAE’s first fully integrated luxury casino resort, set to debut in early 2027. This milestone follows Ras Al Khaimah’s government, in collaboration with UAE federal authorities, issuing Wynn Resorts the first-ever Commercial Gaming Facility Operator license granted after the establishment of the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) in 2024. Marking the the UAE’s pivot from a total gambling ban to a very tightly regulated, world-class casino gaming environment, led by Ras Al Khaimah and Wynn Resort. Wynn Al Marjan Island will deliver the kind of full-scale resort and casino experience seen in destinations like Las Vegas or Macau, combining luxury gaming, dining, wellness, entertainment, and beachfront leisure in one immersive escape.

Where it’s located and why Ras Al Khaimah is a rising star

Wynn Al Marjan Island is being built on Al Marjan Island, a scenic, man-made archipelago in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah (RAK). It’s about 50 minutes from Dubai International Airport and only 15 minutes from RAK International Airport. RAK has traditionally been quieter than Dubai or Abu Dhabi, but it is rapidly emerging as a hub for luxury tourism, ecotourism, beaches, culture, and investment. The arrival of a high-profile integrated resort is expected to boost its profile significantly.

What to expect: Features, design and amenities

Wynn Al Marjan Island is set to become a premier destination, offering a blend of luxury accommodations and world-class amenities. Key features of the resort include:

  • 1,542 Hotel Rooms and Suites: Including the exclusive Enclave—313 ultra-luxury suites with private pools and beach access.
  • Casino Facilities: A 20,900-square-meter main casino and a unique sky gaming casino on the 22nd floor.
  • Dining and Entertainment: 22 restaurants, lounges, a beach club, nightclub, and a 7,500-square-meter convention center.
  • Retail and Wellness: 15,000 square meters of luxury retail space and a five-star spa.
  • Marina: A 101-berth marina accommodating superyachts up to 85 meters, managed by IGY Marinas.

The resort is being developed through a joint venture between Wynn Resorts, Marjan, and RAK Hospitality Holding. Marjan’s CEO, Abdulla Al Abdouli, has emphasized the project’s scale and strategic significance for Ras Al Khaimah’s growth.

Construction status, financing and timeline

The project is on track for an early-2027 opening. As of late 2024 and early 2025, more than 55% of the concrete structure is complete. The tower has risen to about its 26th floor, with exterior and interior work underway in many rooms. Financing has been secured: a $2.4 billion construction facility (loan) arranged with local and international banks.

Why this is a game-changer for UAE tourism

The launch of Wynn Al Marjan Island marks a historic shift for the UAE’s tourism and entertainment landscape:

  • First Licensed Casino Resort: In 2024, Wynn Resorts received the UAE’s first commercial gaming license, making this a landmark development.
  • Boost to Tourism & Economy: Expected to attract international high-end tourists, increase hotel occupancy rates, and stimulate regional economic growth.
  • Global Positioning: Places Ras Al Khaimah and the UAE on the map for luxury gaming and entertainment, attracting visitors who previously traveled to other regional casino hubs.
  • Luxury & Innovation: Combines world-class hospitality with cutting-edge gaming technology and entertainment experiences.
