UAE and Malaysia deepen anti-corruption cooperation through new agreement

The United Arab Emirates and Malaysia took a key step in Abu Dhabi, formalising closer coordination on accountability and integrity. The focus was clear from the outset: tackling corruption through collaboration, shared expertise, and stronger governance practices.As part of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation, the UAE Accountability Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. The agreement aims to enhance cooperation in anti-corruption efforts, promote transparency and integrity, and advance joint efforts to combat corruption in both countries.Officials signed the MoU at the UAE Accountability Authority’s Abu Dhabi headquarters during H.E. Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Azam bin Baki’s official visit. H.E. Humaid Obaid Abu Shibs, Chairman of the UAE Accountability Authority, hosted the visit. It is designed to support transparency and integrity, while strengthening good governance frameworks in line with international best practices in anti-corruption. By sharing knowledge and institutional experience, both sides aim to reinforce their respective approaches to accountability and oversight.The agreement also reflects a shared commitment to advancing international cooperation in accountability, transparency, and anti-corruption efforts. Through this MoU, the UAE Accountability Authority and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission signal their intent to work closely together in addressing corruption challenges and promoting higher standards of governance in the UAE and Malaysia.
