Trey Reed’s death ruled as a suicide, Colin Kaepernick to pay for independent autopsy of black student found hanging at Mississippi college

Trey Reed's death ruled as a suicide, Colin Kaepernick to pay for independent autopsy of black student found hanging at Mississippi college

Autopsy report said Trey Reed, black student of Mississippi college, died by suicide.

After the autopsy report of Demarrravion Trey Reed ruled out any foul play in his death and confirmed that the 21-year-old black student committed suicide, fired NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick came forward to pay for an independent autopsy as Reed’s family expressed doubt. Social media was rife with conspiracy theories as Trey Reed was found hanging from a tree on the campus. His family revealed that they got to know everything from the media as the university authorities informed them that Trey was found dead in the dorm room. Reed’s grandfather JB Reed told reporters that the university authorities did not even say it was a possible suicide, they said it was suicide. Civil rights attorney Ben Crump who is representing the family now announced that Kaepernick’s “Know Your Rights Camp Autopsy Initiative” will fund a second, independent autopsy. “Trey’s death evoked the collective memory of a community that has suffered a historic wound over many, many years and many, many deaths. Peace will come only by getting to the truth,” Crump said in a statement.“We thank Colin Kaepernick for supporting this grieving family and the cause of justice and truth.”Delta State University police Chief Michael Peeler said investigators are reviewing footage to determine what happened to the computer science major. Jy’Quon Wallace, president of the school’s African American Student Council, said he saw Reed on Sunday night having a heated discussion on the phone just hours before his death.“I could tell he was real upset. He was making gestures and was acting like he was throwing stuff. He would kick the wall and then he stormed off toward Blansett Hall,” Wallace told the Clarion Ledger.“He was just out of it. He was real upset, and I had never seen him like that before.”The Mississippi Medical Examiner’s Office determined his cause of death to be hanging and classified the manner of death as suicide.
