Dr Disrespect clarifies Highguard tweet and fake badge controversy
During a stream, Dr Disrespect addressed the incident directly, saying, “Last week we took the Lambo to LA to check out #HighGuard. That’s all we said. Did we say we went to the event? Did we say we got hands-on? Did I say I was going to give you my review and feedback today? Huh? Did we say we were going to give our feedback and review today? ‘We got hands-on Highguard.’ Did I say that? No. We just put together a photo poking fun. All these f***ing people took it seriously.” The developer of Highguard, Wildlight Entertainment, also confirmed that Dr Disrespect had not been invited to any official event. Chin Pua, creator manager at Wildlight, stated on X, “I can confirm DDR was not invited to any Highguard event past or present. The badge was not an official badge.” Despite the confusion, Dr Disrespect laughed off the social media reaction, defending his brand and stressing that his persona remains relevant. He returned to YouTube in September 2024 after a brief demonetization and suspension from the YouTube Partner Program.
