Abu Dhabi is set to host one of the UAE’s most anticipated cultural spectacles, the Sheikh Zayed Festival 2025–2026, a vibrant celebration that unites tradition, innovation, and global participation. Under the theme “Hayyakum” (Welcome), the festival promises a panorama of heritage, arts, sport, and international collaboration, reflecting the nation’s values of tolerance, coexistence, and community spirit.

A global cultural gathering

Held under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the supervision of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, the festival will run from 1 November 2025 to 22 March 2026 at Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi.The Sheikh Zayed Festival ranks among the UAE’s foremost cultural and heritage events. This edition will feature over 4,000 cultural events and 750 large-scale public shows, with more than 20,000 participants from across the UAE and the world. Twenty-two nations will present national pavilions, offering a window into their civilisations and fostering intercultural dialogue.Through these international and domestic exhibitions, the festival underscores the UAE’s commitment to cultural diversity, bringing together a society that represents more than 200 nationalities.

National and heritage highlights

At the heart of the festival lies a tribute to the Emirati nation. Key attractions include:

  • The Union Parade, celebrating national unity and the enduring values established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
  • The 54th UAE Union Day celebrations, featuring artistic and traditional performances, roaming shows, raffles, prizes, and spectacular displays including fireworks, laser, and drone shows.
  • The Heritage Village, offering visitors a chance to explore traditional Emirati life through pavilions, markets, and live folk performances.

Sports and traditional competitions remain integral, including Dhow Sailing Races, Falconry Competitions, the Zayed Grand Camel Race, the Emirati Traditional Cuisine Contest, and the Ramadan Sports Tournament, conducted with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.The Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Award Pavilion will highlight innovations in agriculture, sustainability initiatives, and community food security projects. Winners of the new award cycle will be honoured during the festival.

Entertainment, dining, and family experiences

This year introduces new entertainment zones designed for both families and individual visitors. Al Wathba Boulevard hosts a variety of local and international restaurants, offering Middle Eastern, Asian, European, Indian, and plant-based cuisine. The Emirati Traditional Food Corner remains a highlight, with live cooking demonstrations celebrating the UAE’s culinary heritage.Additional attractions include:

  • Rare Animals Reserve, showcasing endangered wildlife and promoting environmental awareness.
  • Family Entertainment City, offering diverse activities for all ages.
  • The Al Wathba Custom Show, featuring classic and modified cars.

Several national and community organisations participate via dedicated pavilions, including Memory of the Nation, Abu Dhabi Majalis, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works, Agricultural Oasis, Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, and the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Award Pavilion, reinforcing the festival’s focus on sustainability and social responsibility.International pavilions and global markets further showcase cultural exchange, traditional crafts, and products from around the world. The “Skills” Programme, organised with ACTVET and the Abu Dhabi Media Network, will promote Emirati talent in technical and vocational fields.

Nightlife, music, and celebrations

The festival promises a dynamic evening experience:

  • New Year’s Eve celebrations will feature fireworks, lasers, and a 6,000-drone show, alongside children’s activities and musical performances.
  • The Emirates Fountain will continue to mesmerise with synchronized water, light, and laser performances, enhanced with expanded design and capacity.
  • Liwa Nights concerts will host leading Arab and international artists, accompanied by weekly fireworks every Saturday at 10 p.m.

Festival hours are daily from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight, extending to 1:00 a.m. on weekends and public holidays. Go to Source
