Sean “Diddy” Combs has sold one of his luxury Miami properties for $55 million while serving his prison sentence, ending the story that saw the mansion’s link with his high-profile criminal case. The waterfront property on Miami Beach’s exclusive Star Island had drawn national attention after Combs offered it as collateral in a failed attempt to secure bail following his arrest in September 2024. Although his legal team proposed a strict bail package backed by the mansion, federal judges repeatedly denied his release. According to reports by Realtor.com, the property was sold in an off-market deal. The buyer reportedly financed part of the purchase through an $18.5 million mortgage from San Diego-based Axos Bank.

Luxury waterfront estate

The property sits on more than an acre of waterfront land on Star Island, one of Miami Beach’s most exclusive residential neighbourhoods.According to property reports, the estate has around 10 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, about 240 feet of Biscayne Bay waterfront, a resort-style swimming pool, private dock, guesthouse, basketball court, spa and large outdoor entertainment areas overlooking the Miami skyline. Combs bought the mansion in 2021 for $35 million after purchasing it from music industry couple Gloria and Emilio Estefan. Reports said he carried out major renovations after acquiring the home.Although this mansion has now been sold, Combs continues to own another neighbouring Star Island property. He first entered the exclusive island community in 2003, when he bought a separate nine-bedroom, 12-bathroom mansion for $14.5 million. Nearly two decades later, he expanded his holdings by purchasing the adjoining waterfront estate, creating one of the largest celebrity property portfolios on the island.

Failed $50 million bail plea

The sale is significant because the property became a key part of Combs’ efforts to secure his release after he was arrested on federal charges in September 2024. His lawyers proposed a $50 million bail package and offered the Star Island mansion as the main asset to secure the bond. They also included his mother’s Miami home to cover the remaining $2 million needed for the proposed bail amount. Before the bail hearing, Combs paid off the remaining mortgage on the property, which was worth nearly $19 million at the time. His legal team argued that clearing the loan would allow the home to be used as collateral. His lawyers also proposed several conditions for his release including restricting his travel to New York City and Miami, keeping his private jet grounded in Los Angeles while it was being sold, and needing him to wear a GPS monitoring device. However, prosecutors opposed the request, arguing that Combs should remain in custody while awaiting trial. A federal judge agreed and denied bail. His later attempts to secure release were also rejected.

Mansion raided during federal investigation

The Star Island estate had already become the focus of public attention months before Combs’ arrest. In March 2024, Homeland Security agents searched the Miami property as part of the federal investigation that later resulted in criminal charges against the music producer. The mansion remained under public scrutiny throughout the legal proceedings because of its connection to the investigation and the repeated bail hearings.

Comb’s conviction

Combs was arrested in New York on September 16, 2024, after being indicted on charges that included racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force and transportation for the purpose of prostitution. His request for bail was denied several times before his trial began in May 2025.After a trial that lasted several weeks, the jury delivered its verdict in July 2025. Combs was acquitted of the racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges. However, he was found guilty on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for the purpose of prostitution. After the verdict, the court again denied his request for release pending sentencing, meaning he remained in federal custody. In October 2025, a federal judge sentenced Combs to four years and two months in prison. Combs is currently serving his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey. As per federal prison records, his projected release date is February 23, 2028. Go to Source
