Saudi Arabia postpones October housing support disbursement

Saudi Arabia postpones October housing support disbursement: Check new date and conditions

In Saudi Arabia, the official weekend is Friday and Saturday, making Sunday a regular working day for postponed disbursements

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Housing has announced that the monthly housing support grant for October 2025 will be postponed from its scheduled date of October 24 due to an official public holiday. The disbursement will now begin on Sunday, October 26, and continue for five working days, ensuring all eligible beneficiaries receive their grants on time.

What the housing support program offers

The housing support grant is a key initiative aimed at enabling Saudi citizens to access adequate housing and improve living standards. The program provides a monthly financial sum to eligible individuals, helping low- and middle-income families alleviate financial burdens, achieve homeownership, and enhance social stability.

Eligibility conditions

Applicants must meet several requirements to qualify for housing support:

  • Be a Saudi national
  • Be at least 20 years old (recently reduced from 25 to broaden access)
  • Lack sufficient financial capacity to purchase suitable housing or assets exceeding 5 million Saudi riyals
  • Comply with financial installment obligations under the program’s regulations
  • Be a permanent resident of the Kingdom
  • Not have previously benefited from government or private housing support

Disbursement details and mechanism

The Ministry of Housing will distribute the October grant over five consecutive business days starting October 26. Beneficiaries can receive funds through:

  • Their bank accounts
  • Approved disbursement outlets
  • E-wallets

Unlike many other parts of the world, Gulf countries follow a weekend schedule aligned with Islamic tradition. In Saudi Arabia, the official weekend is Friday and Saturday, making Sunday a regular working day. This is why the postponed housing support disbursement is scheduled to begin on Sunday.Beneficiaries can check their disbursement details through the Ministry’s e-services portal by selecting “Housing Support Inquiry” and entering their information. The Ministry urges all beneficiaries to update personal and residency data, adhere to financial conditions, and contact service centres if they have questions.

Program objectives and impact

The Housing Support Program is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to promote homeownership, enhance family and social stability, and support sustainable development goals. Reducing the minimum age for eligibility from 25 to 20 is intended to accelerate homeownership among younger citizens, contributing to Saudi Vision 2030’s target of a 70 percent homeownership rate. The Ministry of Housing reaffirms its commitment to timely, disciplined disbursements for all eligible beneficiaries, ensuring the October 2025 grants are distributed smoothly despite the public holiday adjustment.
