Quote of the day by JD Vance on ‘limousine socialists’

Vice President JD Vance recently unleashed a brutal attack on what he called ‘limousine socialists’ as he spoke against Democratic Abdul El-Sayed who won the Michigan primary. Though it is a rant against a Democrat politician, it reflected Vance’s overall thought on socialism. “They’re not promising you industry. They’re not promising you good jobs. They’re not promising self-sufficiency in a good industrial economy. What they’re promising is redistribution,” Vance said on Fox News.Vance said the Democratic Party just wants radicals as he questioned how these socialists are going to fight for the working class. “How does he fight for the working class? By flooding his state and his country with low-wage immigrants. Of course, those people will drive down the wages of the working class. And he also doesn’t want to do anything to protect the Michigan auto industry. He has fought against the Trump tariffs that have saved the Michigan auto industry.””We’ve seen this in Europe and in the United States. The idea that you can build real prosperity by just redistributing assets from one group to another group, that’s not how you build real prosperity! You have to actually sustain the foundation of the economy. That is what the president of the United States has worked us towards for the past 18 months. A lot of Americans look at this rising tide of socialism and say, how did we get here? We got here by 40 years of bipartisan leaders selling our industrial base to foreign countries, allowing low wage immigrants to come in and compete with Americans for jobs. By destroying the foundation of the middle class, that’s how you got socialism. How you fix that problem is by doubling down on Donald Trump’s economic nationalism, not going back to the way we’ve done things for the past 40 years,” Vance said.

Who are Limousine socialists?

“Limousine socialist” (often used interchangeably with “limousine liberal”) is a pejorative term used to describe wealthy, elite individuals who publicly champion left-wing, socialist, or progressive policies, such as high taxes, wealth redistribution, strict environmental regulations, or public housing, while living affluent, insulated lifestyles that protect them from the practical costs or disruptions those policies might create for ordinary working-class citizens. The term limousine liberal was coined in 1969 by New York City mayoral candidate Mario Procaccino. He used it to criticize incumbent Mayor John Lindsay and his wealthy Manhattan supporters, arguing that high-income “do-gooders” were pushing social policies on working-class neighborhoods without having to live with the consequences. On a separate occasion, JD Vance sarcastically referred to Abdul El-Sayed as “President Abdul El-Sayed” during a White House roundtable. “We don’t want the next administration, whoever — god forbid you’re gonna have President El-Sayed in three years,” Vance said, speaking at an anti-fraud event. “We don’t want him to undo all the incredible work that we’ve been doing when we’ve been taking out the fraudsters and saving the American people money.”

Who is Abdul El-Sayed?

An epidemiologist, Abdul El-Sayed could become the first Muslim senator in the US history if he wins the general election against Republican Mike Rogers. Born to Egyptian parents in the US, Abdul was raised in Southeast Michigan. He studied medicine on an NIH-funded fellowship at Columbia University and then pursued a second doctorate at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. He never intended to be a politician and only wanted to be a doctor but then he “realized it was our broken politics that was making people sick.”
