Qatar is preparing to celebrate this year’s National Day with a vibrant programme at Darb Al Saai in Umm Salal, where history, culture, and community spirit will come together in one expansive setting. The celebrations aim to bring visitors closer to the country’s heritage through interactive experiences, traditional showcases, and creative activities that reflect the pride and identity of the nation. Families, children, and visitors of all ages will find spaces that honour the past while celebrating the progress and unity of modern Qatar, setting the tone for ten days of national reflection and shared joy.

A celebration of heritage and identity

Events for Qatar National Day will take place from 10 to 20 December at the permanent Darb Al Saai venue, which covers 150,000 square metres. The Ministry of Culture said the programme will reflect the National Day motto With You it Rises, From You it Awaits. The celebrations aim to highlight the country’s values, identity, and history while offering a place for citizens and residents to gather.A wide range of entities will take part. These include the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Interior, National Cyber Security Agency, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, The National Archives of Qatar, Doha Forum, Qatar Cultural Center for the Deaf, Qatar Photography Center, Qatar Social and Cultural Center for the Blind, Qatar Reads, and Qatar Islamic Bank. Two major heritage zones, Al Muqtir and Al Izbah, will recreate desert life through traditional houses, poetry sessions, and riddle games that introduce young people to dialects, routes, and old landmarks. The site features the Falconry and Hunting House, the Sadu and Weaving House which showcases women’s crafts, and the Dairy Production House. At Al Izbah, children will learn camel riding and handling, offering a glimpse into the nomadic traditions of earlier generations.

Maritime culture and activities for families

Darb Al Saai will also feature the Al Bidda event, which focuses on maritime heritage through spaces such as Majlis Al Bidda, Bait Al Mutawa, the traditional cafe, Majlis Al Nokhatha, Al Nahham, and Akkas Al Freej. Visitors will find sea heritage games, cultural competitions, and a museum that documents Qatar’s long relationship with the sea.Children will have access to plentiful outdoor activities, including sports and daily cultural events on the main theatre stage. Poetry readings, symposia, and patriotic showcases will form part of the programme.

Guiding vision and national participation

Dr Ghanem bin Mubarak Al Ali, Assistant Undersecretary for Cultural Affairs and General Supervisor of the celebrations, said the motto reflects a commitment to investing in people and nurturing their talents. He emphasised that the events are designed to promote innovation, responsibility, and excellence while strengthening the bond between institutions and the community.Dr Al Ali described Darb Al Saai as a place where the past meets present awareness and future ambition. He noted that children learn about chivalry, young people test their abilities, and adults recognise the value of earlier generations who built the nation.Alongside the Darb Al Saai programme, the national parade along the Doha Corniche will remain a central highlight, involving military and security sectors and several state institutions.

Welcoming the public

The organising committee said Darb Al Saai will host national, cultural, artistic, and recreational activities that reinforce national identity. Key spaces include the main stage, the Qatari House, the Art Gallery, Sana Qatar, and the main competition area. The venue’s open spaces and exhibits reflect the hard work and vision that shaped the country. The committee also drew attention to the Ardha event in Lusail, which celebrates unity, loyalty, and heritage.Darb Al Saai will open daily from 3 pm to 11 pm. The site combines traditional Qatari architecture with modern features, offering comfortable facilities for visitors. Pavilions and booths are arranged to enhance the visitor experience and highlight the details of Qatari identity. Go to Source
