Pro-gun activists hand out free AR-15 magazines outside Virginia State Capitol ahead of ban — video

A video is going viral on social media showing pro-gun activists handing out free 30-round AR-15 magazines outside the Virginia State Capitol, in a direct challenge to pending legislation set to ban the sale of such magazines in the state. The distribution occurred ahead of the expected signature of a bill that would prohibit the sale of high-capacity magazines in Virginia, marking a significant policy shift for the state. The activist giveaway represented an apparent attempt to circumvent the incoming ban by placing magazines in circulation before the law took effect in July, Raw Story reported. The footage, shared on social media by Documentarian Ford Fischer, showed activists freely distributing the magazines to supporters gathered at the Capitol.

The incident underscored the ongoing tension between gun rights advocates and legislators pushing for stricter regulations on firearm accessories. Social media responses to Fischer’s video were mixed, with some users praising the activists’ defiance of the proposed ban, while others raised concerns about the distribution of weapons accessories to what appeared to include minors in the crowd. The MAGA fan are defending the act and called it “patriotism.” One of the users commented: “Hundreds of ARMED PATRIOTS completely flooded the Capitol grounds TODAY — peacefully, powerfully, and unapologetically. They’re literally HANDING OUT FREE 30-ROUND AR-15 MAGS to everyone who shows up… right before Spanberger & the Dems try to BAN THEM FOREVER!! This is what resistance looks like. This is what the Second Amendment looks like. This is AMERICA refusing to be disarmed. Who’s with them?” While the left slamming the giving away weapons and raised concerns as it is being distributed to children as well.
