Swedish princess Sofia skipped the Nobel Prize Ceremony as the new of her past connection with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein broke, making her the second Royal family member after Andrew to be embroiled in the controversy. Andrew lost his royal title for his association with Epstein as he was explicitly accused of having sex with underage Virginia Giuffre, who brought Andrew down. Emails between Sofia’s mentor and Epstein were leaked and the Swedish Royal Court confirmed that Princess Sofia met Epstein in 2005 when Sofia was a young actressOn December 9, Swedish outlet Dagens Nyheter published emails between Epstein and financier Barbro Ehnbom. Ehnbom was Sofia’s mentor and she attended Sofia’s 2015 wedding to Prince Carl Philip.

In a 2005 email, Barbo attached Sofia’s photo and wrote to Epstein: “This is Sofia, an aspiring actress who just arrived in New York. She’s the girl I told you about before I left, who I thought you might like to meet. Maybe we can visit before you go on holiday?””I’m in the Caribbean. Does she want to come for a couple of days? I’ll send a ticket,” Epstein wrote back. Another email sent from Epstein’s assistant to Barbo in 2006 reveals that Epstein did not forget about Sofia, though he may have mixed up the names. “Jeffrey wonders what really happened with Camilla. Did you tell her she has a ticket to New York anytime she wants?” Epstein’s assistant wrote to Barbo. “I think he means Sofia, the little beautiful dark-haired girl who had her friend Camilla with her,” Barbo wrote adding that Epstein offered both women spots at an acting school, but there were issues with their visas. Before dating Prince Carl Philip in 2010, Sofia was in the public eye as a model for which she received immense hate.
