US President Donald Trump once again confirmed that the United States used a weapon he described as a “discombobulator” during a military operation in Venezuela that resulted in the capture of President Nicolás Maduro.Speaking to an NBC reporter, Trump said he was not permitted to disclose details of the weapon but asserted that it rendered Venezuelan equipment inoperable. “Discombobulator, well, I’m not allowed to talk about it. Let me just tell you, you know what it does? None of their equipment works,” he said.Trump claimed the operation was carried out with minimal resistance and without casualties. “It was, you know, practically a shot wasn’t fired. You know, they were ready,” he said, adding that US forces “lost no men and we lost no equipment.”NBC, paraphrasing the president’s remarks, added “nothing worked, even including humans,” to which Trump responded, “Well, it did something.” The US president described the operation as having taken place in what he called a “very tough environment” at a military base, which he described as the biggest in South America, reiterating that US forces emerged without losses on ttheir side. The Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were captured in an operation by US forces on January 3, following a “large-scale strike” on Venezuela made early Saturday, as revealed by Trump.
