Right-wing commentator Nick Fuentes wants to include India in the list of countries from which the US is stopping immigration.Recently, the Trump administration cracked down on 19 countries with a full suspension of immigration and naturalization. These countries include: Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) took this step after a deadly shooting incident last week, when an Afghan national named Rahmanullah Lakanwal shot two National Guard soldiers near the White House in Washington, DC. One of the soldiers, Sarah Beckstrom, died of her injuries, while the other, Andrew Wolfe, is fighting for his life.Rahmanullah entered US in 2021 under the Operation Allies Welcome initiative, which allowed Afghans to take refuge in the United States after the Taliban took full control following the withdrawal of American troops.MAGA conservatives have called on the Trump administration to include India in the immigration suspension list, claiming that Indians are coming through H-1B visas and “stealing” job opportunities and college positions. This has created a division within the MAGA movement over whether to continue allowing H-1B workers enter through legal means. Trump recently took a softer stance on immigration policies, saying that the US lacks domestic talent and needs skilled migrant workers to fill crucial sectors like tech and defence. This angered many in the MAGA base, who accused Trump of going against his “America First” agenda and prioritising foreigners over native-born Americans.Nick Fuentes has said multiple other controversial things on immigration involving Jews, Hindus, Muslims, and Latinos. He is a typical far-right podcaster and is even labeled a “Nazi” by some Democrats.
