New twist in D4vd case: Celeste Rivas was likely dead for 'several weeks', confirms police

Police confirmed that Celeste Rivas Hernandez was likely dead for several weeks before her body was found in D4vd’s Tesla on September 8.

In a major revelation of the hush-hush celebrity case rocking the Hollywood Hills, the LAPD has confirmed to PEOPLE that Celeste Rivas Haenandez, the teen found dead in singer D4vd’s Tesla, had been dead for ‘several weeks’. But investigators are still tight-lipped about D4vd’s role in Celeste’s death, the nature of the relationship that he shared with her. D4vd has not been charged in connection with the death; he has not even been named as a suspect. LAPD captain and commanding officer Scot M Williams said that while many questions remain about the death of Rivas Hernande, “we know for sure that Celeste Rivas Hernandez died and someone placed her body in the front trunk area of David Burke’s [d4vd’s legal name] Tesla.”Read: When was Celeste’s body put inside D4vd’s car? Shocking details about singer’s Tesla revealed”We know that the Tesla had been parked at the location from which it was towed for several weeks, so it is very likely Celeste Rivas Hernandez had been dead for several weeks prior to her body being discovered,” Williams said.

Cause of death?

Many questions will get answers when the investigators get to know Celeste’s cause of death and the date of death. “The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not determined a cause or manner of her death, so we don’t know for sure if anyone has any criminal culpability for her death beyond the concealment of her dead body,” the captain added, sharing that the LAPD’s robbery-homicide division is still probing the case. D4vd’s tours have been canceled and though he is out of the public eye, his representatives claimed that he was cooperating with the investigation. The LAPD did not confirm whether he was cooperating or not.

Did someone else put Celeste’s body in D4vd’s Tesla?

The Tesla where Celeste was found was registered in D4vd’s name, but it was used by many people. A crucial information about the car provided a major breakthrough in the case, as the LA Times reported that the Tesla was ticketed 11 days before Celeste was found on September 8. On August 27, a parking enforcement officer marked the Tesla, noting the position of its tires. On September 3, the officer issued a citation to the Tesla for violating the 72-hour parking ordinance. On September 5, the Tesla was impounded and towed to the Hollywood tow yard. The thick layer of dust on the Tesla indicated that the car had not been opened between August 27 and September 8, indicating that Celeste was killed before August 27.
