The group strongly disagreed with the appointment. They said this shows what they called a “regressive lie” in the state. They also wrote that if people say men and women are the same, then a man can “wear the female form like a Halloween costume.” Their post created more debate and strong reactions online.Giselle Byrd has worked in the arts for many years. In December 2023, she became the executive director of The Theater Offensive. This group is known for queer art and for helping young queer artists.
