Maryland crash: Driver flees after slamming into outdoor birthday party; 9 kids injured

A hit-and-run driver crashed into an outdoor birthday party in Bladensburg, Maryland, on Saturday evening, injuring nine children and two adults, authorities said. A girl and a toddler sustained critical injuries, according to statements from the Bladensburg Police Department and the Prince George’s County Fire and EMS Department, reported by AP. Seven other children, aged 2 to 9, and two adults suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver reportedly exited the vehicle and ran away, and authorities have not yet located them. Investigators have not determined what caused the vehicle to veer off Maryland Highway 450 at around 10:15 pm.
