Marjorie Taylor Greene apologises after alleging Trump is threatening her amid H1-B, Epstein files row: ‘I’m sorry for being part of...’

Marjorie Taylor Greene issued a rare apology for her role in America’s “toxic politics”, speaking on CNN as her public split with President Donald Trump deepens and tension inside the Republican Party rises over issues ranging from H1-B, America First agenda, and the release of Epstein files. The MAGA Congresswoman appeared on CNN on Sunday and was pressed by anchor Dana Bash about attacks from Trump aimed at others in the GOP. Bash said that Greene had not spoken out about such behaviour until the remarks were directed at her. Greene replied, “Dana, I think that’s fair criticism, and I would like to say humbly I’m sorry for taking part in the toxic politics. It’s very bad for our country and it’s been something I’ve thought about a lot, especially since Charlie Kirk was assassinated… I’m only responsible for myself and my own words and actions and I am going, I am committed and I’ve been working on this a lot lately, to put down the knives in politics.” Her public apology comes after Greene posted on X on Saturday that she was facing threats from POTUS and that the warnings were “fueled by the most powerful man in the world… The man I supported and helped get elected.” The rift between the two increased in recent weeks as they clashed over issues such as rising healthcare costs during the government shutdown. Greene also took a strong stance in favour of releasing the Epstein files, which reportedly include references to Trump and knowledge of Epstein’s activities. Trump responded on Friday in a lengthy Truth Social post, announcing that he was withdrawing his support for Greene. He called her “wacky” and a “ranting lunatic”, adding that she had “gone Far Left, even doing The View, with their Low IQ Republican hating Anchors.”Greene rejected Trump’s claims, saying he “attacked me and lied about me.” She insisted she had not been calling him, but had sent him text messages about the Epstein files which she believes “sent him over the edge.” She added that Trump was coming after her aggressively in an attempt to make an example of her and intimidate other Republicans ahead of next week’s vote on releasing the Epstein files. Despite the fallout, Greene insists she has not changed politically. She continues to promote her “AFAO” slogan, standing for America First America Only. The row erupted when Trump faced a backlash from the MAGA base for saying in a Fox News interview that the United States lacks enough talent and needs more foreign skilled workers. The comments angered supporters who argued it contradicted his “America First” message. Greene was among the first to criticise the president, insisting America already has enough talent and promising to release a plan to ban H1 B visas permanently.
