‘Lot of bad parents’: Celeste Rivas family gets flak after teen found dead in singer D4vd’s car; cousin defends

'Lot of bad parents': Celeste Rivas family gets flak after teen found dead in singer D4vd's car; cousin defends

TikTokers blame dead teen Celeste Rivas’ family as she escaped four times before the final one in 2024 and was found dead a year later inside D4vd’s car.

A person claimed to be the cousin of Celeste Rivas, the teen found dead in singer D4vd’s dumped car a year after she went missing — and defended the family as TikTokers were blaming bad parenting for the tragedy. Rivas, a Lake Elsinore resident in California, was reported missing last year when she was only 13. Cops could not trace her before an unidentified body was found in D4vd’s Tesla on September 8. Days later, the body was identified as that of Rivas, while the reason for her death remains unknown. Even the date of his death is not known as police believe she could have been dead for a long time as the body was rotting. Mystery around her death is deepening as Rivas’ mother claimed that Rivas had a boyfriend named David. It’s not certain whether this David is singer D4vd though the singer and Rivas had the same tattoo — a famous one that many celebrities have. D4vd has not issued any statement but is cooperating with the investigation.

TikTok was rife with comments condemning the family for failing her, as Rivas apparently escaped home several times before she went missing in 2024. One user going by the username @nahomy claimed to be Celeste’s cousin and said that random social media users don’t know anything about Celeste’s family. Nahomy said detective contacted their mother to brief the family on the investigation and now they are part of the investigation. The cousin claimed that Celeste was living with them for a while after she ran away for the second time. “Im disappointed in my own aunt to be so honest with you. We were gonna put her somewhere after she ran away the 2nd time. She then ran away the next day after a really bad argument with her and our family. She then came to live with us the summer of 2024. Later on when school started, she went back to her parents and later ran away one last time. she was perfectly fine under me and my parents roof but always ran away under my aunts,” the cousin posted.
