Locked minor for three days, assaulted, forced drugs: Sex offender released on bail in Canada, re-arrested within 30 minutes

Sex offender Skye Atoa, a 50-year-old man from Lethbridge in Canada, was released on bail despite having serious charges against him. But within 30 minutes, he had to be arrested for breaching his release. The details of his sex offences that involved minors and then his getting away on bail sent a shockwave through Canada as Canadians now fear that UK-like grooming gangs are active in Canada as well. Atoa is facing charges of sexual assault, sexual exploitation and human trafficking. But he was granted bail Tuesday afternoon. According to his bail condition, he was required to go to a court-ordered residence. But instead he went to a store. Police found him standing at the perfume aisle at the store in close proximity to a young female.

Minor girl locked inside room, assaulted, forced drugs

In December 2025, cops arrested Atoa when they were investigating the missing case of a 14-year-old girl. The girl was held captive inside an apartment for three days, sexually assaulted by Atoa and other men and was forced to take drugs, Two other minor girls were also found in the apartment. Atoa was also charged with sexual assault from a different case from October 2025, where a 24-year-old female was assaulted at his residence. Cops believed there could be more victims and released his photo earlier. After his re-arrest, the cops reached out to the woman at the store Atoa went straight after release. “Police want to speak with the female witness from the store and describe her as having a darker complexion, with long, dark curly hair parted in the middle. She was wearing a black top and dark blue pants, and was carrying a small, white shopping bag. The witness is asked to contact police at 403-328-4444, referencing file 25059360,” the police statement said.
