Jonathan Horst is back on YouTube, after more than a year away from posting videos, the former Mac Address host has started a brand new channel called “Thinking Different.” He shared the update on X on February 12, 2026, telling followers that he is ready to make videos again. For many tech viewers, Jonathan Horst was the face of Mac Address, the Apple-focused channel linked to Linus Media Group. When Mac Address went on an indefinite break in late 2024, fans wondered what would happen next. Now they have their answer. Jonathan Horst says his new channel will not only talk about Apple but also explore other tech topics and even ideas beyond tech.In his post on X, Jonathan Horst wrote, “After a nice long break, I am back to making videos! Let’s start with a rant about Liquid Glass and Flat Design on my tech channel ‘Thinking Different.’ It won’t be as Apple focussed compared to what I did before, and I have plans beyond tech too.” His message was simple and direct. It made clear that this new chapter is independent from his earlier work under Linus Media Group.

Jonathan Horst opens up about leaving Mac Address and Linus Media Group

Jonathan Horst first spoke about leaving Mac Address in November 2024. Around that time, the channel was paused as part of wider changes inside Linus Media Group. Reports of layoffs were circulating, and viewers were unsure who would stay and who would move on. On November 16, 2024, Jonathan Horst posted a statement on X. He looked back at his journey and stayed calm about the situation. He wrote, “When I was in broadcast journalism school, our instructors warned us ‘you will be guaranteed to experience layoffs in your career.’ I’m on my 2nd. I’m fine. It was an enormous privilege to work on Mac Address. I appreciate the opportunity and all who supported the channel.”He did not go into details about why he left. Still, his words showed gratitude rather than anger. Many followers responded with support and thanked him for his honest reviews and thoughtful discussions on Apple products.Meanwhile, another former Linus Tech Tips employee, Alex Clark, also made headlines. Alex Clark said he was fired after starting his own YouTube channel. According to his public comments, the company claimed this move broke a non-compete clause in his contract. That situation added more attention to the changes happening inside the company at the time. Now, with “Thinking Different,” Jonathan Horst is building something on his own terms. He has made it clear that while Apple will still be part of the conversation, his content will grow wider. After a long pause, he is stepping back into the spotlight with a fresh start and a new voice.
