Johnny Somali is facing more problems in South Korea after a second petition asking for “severe punishment” was reportedly filed against him. The streamer is currently appealing his six-month prison labor sentence, but the new petition could make his legal situation even worse. The latest update has sparked fresh discussion online, with many people now closely watching how the Korean court handles the appeal.Back on April 14, a Korean court found Johnny Somali guilty on multiple charges, including creating and sharing deepfake videos involving other streamers. Prosecutors had originally asked for a three-year prison sentence with labor, but the court instead sentenced him to six months. Somali later appealed the ruling, hoping to reduce or overturn the punishment.

He also revealed that this is now the second separate victim asking the court for harsher action against the streamer. Since Somali appealed the original sentence, the case will now reportedly be reviewed by three judges instead of one. Another major update is that Somali’s lawyer has reportedly stopped representing him. The attorney, who was allegedly paid for by Heonjong “Hank” Yoo, had already spent months studying the case and evidence. Somali has now reportedly been given a public defender, who may need time to fully understand the complicated situation.The case has also gained attention because of leaked letters allegedly sent by Somali from detention. In the letters, he reportedly claimed that he was “having fun” and compared the detention center to a hotel. This surprised many people because other reports have described the conditions inside as very harsh, with several inmates sharing a small cell.For now, Johnny Somali remains in detention while his appeal continues, and the new petition has added even more attention to the already controversial case.
