‘Is that Robin Scherbatsky?’: Viral clips on YouTube show 'How I Met Your Mother' star in powerful ex-Marine role

A 2019 clip from the series Stumptown has gone viral on YouTube, with Hollywood actress Cobie Smulders, best known for her role as Robin Scherbatsky in How I Met Your Mother, in the spotlight. Fans were thrilled to see her in a more intense, action-driven role, portraying an ex-Marine named Dex Parios. The clip features a scene in which a young man with Down syndrome, Ansel Parios, walks into a restaurant and calmly interacts with a waitress. He hands her a card containing his sister’s emergency contact information before leaving. When the waitress later realises something is wrong, she calls the number, and Smulders’ character arrives — revealing herself as a former soldier trying to rescue her brother from a kidnapping situation.

Is that robin Shchirbotzsky?

Social media praised the scene for its emotional depth and subtle storytelling. Many commented on how the young man’s composed actions in a moment of crisis showed courage. His decision to discreetly hand over the card was described as a “smart move,” showing how individuals with special needs can demonstrate extraordinary calmness and quick thinking in tense situations.Smulders’ performance as Dex Parios was also commended for portraying strength and vulnerability in equal measure. The series, which originally aired in 2019, follows her as a former Marine turned private investigator ging through trauma, family, and moral grey areas.Fans on YouTube expressed excitement at rediscovering her beyond her comedic role in How I Met Your Mother. “So good to see Robin in something totally different,” one user wrote. In How I Met Your Mother (2005-1014), Cobie Smulders played Robin Scherbatsky, a witty, independent Canadian journalist who becomes one of the show’s most beloved characters. Robin’s career-driven attitude, dry humour, and aversion to traditional relationships made her stand out from the rest of the group. Over nine seasons, she evolves from a young reporter chasing news stories to a successful global correspondent.
