Indian-origin MAGA ally backs Trump’s H-1B U-turn: ‘At least get your stories straight’

Indian-origin MAGA ally backs Donald Trump’s H-1B U-turn: ‘At least get your stories straight’

Indian-origin MAGA ally Dinesh D’Souza came out in defence of Donald Trump’s recent remarks on H-1B visas, which have divided the Republican base.D’Souza mocked critics who were on Trump’s case, saying the US president “betrayed Americans” by going back on his hardline H1-B stance. D’Souza claimed the haters were being inconsistent in their arguments about American education and workforce quality.Posting on X, D’Souza said: “Many people: Our education system sucks! It’s all indoctrination, no real learning. Standards have plummeted. The same people: Is Trump seriously saying our graduates are not the best in the world and can do any job you can think of? Let’s at least get our stories straight.” His comments follow Trump’s latest Fox News interview with Laura Ingraham, where the US President appeared to soften his long-held stance on foreign worker visas. Trump said that while he supports higher wages for American workers, the country still needs skilled immigrants in important sectors like tech and medical. He added that the US needs “talent,” which it doesn’t currently have, according to the POTUS.Trump argued that the US cannot rely on long-term unemployed workers for highly technical roles, especially in manufacturing and defence. When Ingraham suggested that the US already has enough talent, Trump responded without hesitation: “No, you don’t. There are certain skills you don’t have, and people have to learn them. You can’t take people off the unemployment line and say, ‘I’m going to put you into a factory where we’re going to make missiles.’”The remarks stirred a row among MAGA supporters, who accused Trump of betraying his “America First” promise.
