Authorities described him as an Indian citizen with a lengthy criminal history that included violent offenses such as robbery and assault-related charges. He was taken into immigration custody pending deportation proceedings.Pennsylvania caseIn Pennsylvania, Subramanyam “Subu” Vedam, an Indian-born man who had been in US since infancy, was previously convicted of first-degree murder in 1983 and served more than four decades in prison. After his conviction was overturned in 2025, ICE detained him again based on a prior deportation order tied to his earlier case. He remains in immigration custody pending further proceedings.
