'If they don’t disarm then there will be ...': Donald Trump warns Hamas

US President Donald Trump sent a warning to Hamas that they must disarm within a “very short period of time” as part of a ceasefire agreement with Israel otherwise they will “hell to pay for them.””They’re going to be given a very short period of time to disarm. And we’ll see how that works out,” Trump told reporters during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.Trump said special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, who has worked on Middle East peace efforts, will oversee Hamas’s compliance.“But if they don’t disarm as they agreed to do, they agreed to it, then there will be hell to pay for them. And we don’t want that. We’re not looking for that.”Asked what the next steps would be if Hamas did not disarm, Trump said it would be “horrible for them.” He added that other countries have offered to target Hamas, though he did not specify which ones.”Hamas pledged, they swore that they were gonna disarm. Now if they’re not gonna disarm, those same countries will wipe out Hamas.”A ceasefire plan agreed to in October called for Hamas, the militant group that governs Gaza, to disarm to maintain long-term peace with Israel. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who had recently travelled to Israel, warned on Sunday that Hamas was not living up to the deal.“What did I learn on this trip? That Hamas is not disarming. They’re rearming. Hamas is not abandoning power. They’re consolidating power,” Graham said on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” citing Israeli intelligence officials and U.S. officials.Trump met with Netanyahu on Monday at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Following a lunch meeting, Trump projected a united front with the Israeli leader.“I think we came to a lot of conclusion and conclusions, and there’s very little difference in what we’re looking at and where we want to be,” Trump said.
