‘I made a mistake’: Heritage Foundation leader says he didn’t know much about Nick Fuentes when he defended Tucker Carlson

'I made a mistake': Heritage Foundation leader says he didn't know much about Nick Fuentes when he defended Tucker Carlson

Kevin Roberts (middle) apologized for supporting Tucker Carlson (left) after he gave Nick Fuentes platform on his show.

Heritage Foundation president Kevin Roberts apologized amid the row over his support for Tucker Carlson after he gave a platform to Nick Fuentes. Nick Fuentes made several antisemitic and extremist statements on the Tucker Carlson show while Carlson listened to those without any strong resistance. This became a defining moment for MAGA as the former Fox News journalist and a prominent conservative commentator got canceled after surrendering to Nick Fuentes. But Kevin Roberts came to Tucker Carlson’s defense and called Carlson’s critics a ‘venomous coalition’. “Christians can critique the state of Israel without being antisemitic,” Roberts said in his video. Kevin Roberts’ stand triggered a major revolt from Heritage Foundation staff, with several members resigning in protest against Kevin’s open antisemitism and also demanded Roberts’ resignation.

Kevin says sorry but shifts blame, says he didn’t know much about Fuentes

Under the pressure of the staff members, Kevin Roberts acknowledged his mistake and said he didn’t know much about Nick Fuentes. He also said that the script of the video in which he defended Tucker as a close friend of the Heritage Foundation was written by his chief of staff who has since resigned.

What did Nick Fuentes say on the Carlson show?

Tucker Carlson sat down with Nick Fuentes for a two-hour interview where Carlson was seen gently disagreeing with Fuentes’ statement that the loyalty of the Jewish people to the US is always a matter of suspicion. Carlson said it’s not trie as many Jews have been critical of Israel but he railed against ‘Christian Zionists’ and called Texas Senator Ted Cruz and former president George W Bush victims of ‘brain virus’. “If you sit there with someone who says Adolf Hitler was very, very cool and that their mission is to combat and defeat ‘global Jewry,’ and you say nothing, then you are a coward and you are complicit in that evil,” Ted Cruz attacked Carlson.
