Actor and brothers Alec and Stephen Baldwin were involved in an accident in The Hamptons in the greater New York City area – an incident during which Alec, who was driving his wife Hilaria’s car, smashed it into a “big, fat tree.”Alec later posted a video on Instagram describing the incident and reassuring everyone that he and Stephen are doing fine. “This morning, I was in a car accident. A guy cut me off in a truck—a big garbage truck the size of a whale. To avoid hitting him, I hit a tree. I hit a big, fat tree. It crushed my wife’s car. I feel bad about that. It’s all fine; I’m fine. My brother’s fine,” the 59-year-old award-winning actor said.He went on to thank the East Hampton Town Police Department “for coming to our aid,” specifically shouting out one Officer Gerken as a “lovely guy.”The team of Stephen Baldwin, whose son-in-law is singer Justin Bieber, also confirmed the brothers were unharmed.”Stephen is doing fine and is grateful no one was injured. He appreciates the concern and he can confirm that he and Alec are both safe and well,” his publicist, James Moore, told USA Today in a statement.Hilaria Baldwin, an author and yoga instructor whom Alec married in 2012, also posted a video on Instagram.”Hey, I’m getting a lot of messages about the accident that Alec was in today. I just want you to know he’s okay, Stephen is okay, no one was hurt, and that is the most important thing. So I love you and thank you for caring,” she said. The company that owns the garbage truck told TMZ its employee was not at fault, according to USA Today.
