“I almost lost my eye”: Pokimane opens up about painful medical scare

Image/Instagram

Popular Twitch streamer Pokimane recently shared a scary health problem that happened just before her birthday trip to Paris. The content creator, whose real name is Imane Anys, revealed that she almost missed her flight after suddenly developing severe pain and itching in her right eye.During a June 2 livestream, Pokimane explained that the problem started while she was having dinner the night before her trip. At first, she thought it was a small issue that would go away on its own. However, when she woke up the next morning, her eyes felt even worse. The streamer said she became worried because she had never experienced anything like it before.

Pokimane’s rare eye problem surprised even her doctor

As the pain grew stronger, Pokimane rushed to an emergency optometrist before her scheduled flight. She said her eye was very red and felt as if something was stuck inside, even though she could not see anything. After checking her eye, the doc found out what was wrong. It turns out, one of Pokimane’s eyelashes was stuck in her tear duct on the upper eyelid. This little hitch was behind her irritated, reddened, and achy peepers. The case was pretty surprising, even for the doctor. Pokimane shared that the optometrist said she’d never come across this exact issue in her whole career – nine years of spotting eye problems. Such an unusual diagnosis left the streamer cackling about how bizarre it all was, despite being mighty uncomfortable before.Pokimane later shared her experience with her YouTube audience in a video called “I Almost Lost My Eye.” Though the title sounds frightening, once the lash was out, she got proper care and recovered fast. This happened during a super hectic period; she was gearing up for a birthday jaunt to France. Luckily, everything worked out, and the fix was prompt enough for her to make her flight to Paris. No more hassles!Fortunately for Pokimane, the eyelash was safely removed before her trip. After the unusual diagnosis, she was able to board her flight to Paris and continue her birthday celebrations without any further issues.
