Husband charged with murder of Indian-origin wife in Adelaide; CPR could not save woman

Supriya Thakur, a 36-year-old Indian woman, was found dead at her residence in Adelaide’s northern suburbs after cops received complaints of domestic violence. Her husband Vikrant Thakur, a 42-year-old man, was arrested and charged with murder. According to reports, Vikrant appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon but did not apply for release on bail. Now he will remain in custody until at least April next year.”She should be remembered as a really, really beautiful mother, as a really good friend,” Suproya’s friend Ella Butler told 9News. The pair reportedly has a son, though it has not been confirmed whether he was in the house at the time of her death. Police said another person was in the house, but that they were uninjured.Investigators remained at the house yesterday as Vikrant Thakur was refused bail and faced court, with prosecutors saying the couple’s phones would be examined, along with toxicology and DNA.Police said emergency services were called to a home at Northfield around 8:30pm on Sunday after reports of a domestic assault.Police said they arrived to find a 36-year-old woman unconscious.”Officers immediately commenced CPR but sadly, the woman could not be revived,” police said in a statement.
