HR exec caught in Coldplay kiss cam scandal set to host $875 crisis conference

HR executive caught in Coldplay kiss cam scandal set to host $875 crisis conference: 'What’s the theme? Homewrecking?'

The former HR chief caught in last year’s viral Coldplay kiss cam scandal is set to return to the spotlight as a keynote speaker at a high-priced crisis communications conference in the United States.Kristin Cabot, the ex-chief people officer of tech firm Astronomer, will speak at PRWeek’s 2026 Crisis Comms Conference in April, where tickets cost $875. Cabot will appear alongside crisis communications specialist Dini von Mueffling, whose firm she hired after the scandal erupted.Cabot is a 53-year-old mother of two who became the centre of drama after she and Astronomer CEO Andy Byron were shown embracing each other on a stadium screen during a Coldplay concert in July 2025, which showed an apparent extramarital affair. Both were married at the time. The footage went viral in moments. The company Astronomer later attempted to defuse the controversy with a bold move, appointing Gwyneth Paltrow, the ex-wife of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, as a temporary company spokesperson in a gag video. Despite the effort, both Cabot and Byron resigned within weeks.Byron has mostly stayed out of public view. Cabot gave several interviews in December, saying she felt a “scarlet letter” (public shame for the sin of adultery) had been placed on her. Now, she is set to address the very topic that created her downfall.According to the conference agenda, Cabot and von Mueffling will lead a 30-minute session titled “Kristin Cabot: Taking back the narrative.” The description says: “Cabot experienced firsthand the extremity of public shaming that women have long experienced when in the negative spotlight of the media, one their male counterparts often seem to avoid.”It adds that Cabot and her PR adviser will share “the strategy — both immediate and long-term — that has helped Cabot take control of her narrative and rewrite her story”.The conference promises attendees tools to “pivot at a moment’s notice for unexpected occurrences that are now the norm, not the exception”. It will take place on April 16 in Washington, DC.The announcement was considered absurd, particularly over the price of entry. Some social media users said that the ticket costs more than Coldplay concert seats.

Social media reactions:

  • I wouldn’t attend this event even if you PAID me $875.
  • It’s pathetic — cheating gets you further than real hard work/achievement ever will.
  • What’s the theme? Homewrecking and how to shame yourself globally ?
  • She created the narrative. Way to play victim.
  • Will there be a Kiss Cam?
