Hasan breaks down what really happened with his Bilibili stream

HasanAbi has spoken out to clear the air after his brief attempt to multistream on the Chinese platform Bilibili quickly fell apart and sparked backlash online. As clips spread across social media, critics claimed Hasan was pandering to China and immediately getting censored. Responding to the growing chatter, Hasan said the situation was being oversimplified. He explained that the stream did not end because of one dramatic moment, but due to Bilibili’s strict and unclear rules around what can be shown on screen.According to Hasan, the first shutdown was straightforward. He said the stream was taken down because Twitch chat appeared on screen, which violates Bilibili’s policies. The second time when they removed the stream, however, is still unclear. Hasan admitted he is not fully sure why it happened and is currently waiting to hear back from the platform. He suggested it may have been triggered by him being on Twitter during the stream, which could also fall under Bilibili’s content restrictions.

Hasan explains why his Bilibili stream went down and what he learned from it

As the situation unfolded, Hasan became frustrated with how the reaction played out online. He pointed out that many of the loudest voices mocking the failed stream were people who already want him removed from Twitch. “Guy who wants me taken off Twitch… entire communities being like, I can’t believe you got taken off,” he said, calling the reaction hypocritical. To Hasan, it felt like familiar hate dressed up as fake concern. Hasan also compared his experience on Bilibili to his long-standing relationship with Twitch. While he admitted he has many disagreements with Twitch policies, he emphasized that it is still his main platform. “Plenty I don’t agree with in terms of Twitch, but I gotta play ball,” he said, explaining that Twitch’s rules, while frustrating, are at least clearer and more predictable than what he experienced on Bilibili. He pushed back on the idea that the Bilibili stream was meant to replace Twitch or signal a major platform shift. Instead, Hasan framed it as a short experiment showing how challenging it can be to stream political content under strict censorship. Compared to Twitch, Bilibili was far more restrictive, with streams being cut without clear explanations. He added that he wants to “build a bridge,” creating more understanding between audiences in the U.S. and China, and using his platform to connect rather than escalate tensions. Ultimately, the Bilibili experience was a learning moment for Hasan, helping him navigate platform rules while keeping his focus on creating content for his core audience. Also Read: Sneako walks back anti-Christmas comments in on-stream debate with Nick Fuentes
