From Olympics to underworld: $40 million motorcycle collection of FBI’s most wanted fugitive Ryan Wedding seized

From Olympics to underworld: $40 million motorcycle collection of FBI’s most wanted fugitive Ryan Wedding seized

Mexican authorities have seized a vast collection of luxury motorcycles believed to be owned by Ryan Wedding, the former Olympic athlete now on the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list. The haul, estimated at around $40 million, was uncovered this month after multiple search warrants were executed at properties in Mexico City and the neighbouring state of Mexico. Images released by the FBI show rows of high-performance, race-style motorcycles, many resembling professional competition bikes, allegedly tied to Wedding’s criminal proceeds.

Dozens of high-end motorcycles seized in operation

According to Mexican officials, the operation led to the seizure of 62 high-end motorcycles, along with vehicles, artwork, drugs and other items. The FBI’s Los Angeles division said the action was carried out in coordination with Mexican authorities, the Los Angeles Police Department and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, describing it as a significant step in disrupting Wedding’s alleged financial network.

A former Olympian turned international fugitive

Wedding, a 44-year-old Canadian national, represented Canada in snowboarding at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. His post-sporting life took a dramatic turn after a 2009 conviction in the US for conspiracy to distribute cocaine, for which he served time in prison before being released in 2010. Federal prosecutors allege that he later rebuilt and expanded his criminal activities on a far larger scale.

Allegations of a transnational drug operation

US authorities accuse Wedding of running a sophisticated cocaine trafficking enterprise that moved hundreds of kilograms of cocaine from Colombia, through Mexico and Southern California, into Canada and other parts of the US. Prosecutors say the operation relied on established cartel-linked routes and generated vast profits, which were allegedly laundered into luxury assets, including the seized motorcycles.

Murder charges and escalating case

Wedding was indicted in Los Angeles federal court in 2024 on multiple charges, including operating a continuing criminal enterprise. New charges announced later allege he ordered several murders, including the killing of a federal witness in January 2025, significantly raising the stakes of the case and intensifying the international manhunt.

Manhunt continues as reward remains on offer

Wedding is believed to be hiding in Mexico and is considered armed and dangerous, authorities say. The US State Department is offering a reward of up to $15 million for information leading to his arrest and conviction. While the seizure of the motorcycle collection represents a major financial blow, investigators say the search for one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives is far from over. Go to Source
