Emiru issues strong statement after viral video shows fan trying to kiss her at TwitchCon 2025 event

Emiru, a famous Twitch streamer and cosplayer, was grabbed by a fan during her meet-and-greet at TwitchCon 2025 on Friday. A video showed the fan suddenly leaning in and trying to kiss her without asking. Emiru stepped back as her personal security intervened to remove the fan, while event security was criticized for not responding effectively or immediately. The incident happened in front of several people. Twitch later confirmed the man was removed from the event and is under investigation. The platform said fan safety and creator safety are their top priority.Emiru speaks out and asks Twitch for stronger safety rulesEmiru issued a clear statement after the video spread online. She said she felt “shaken and uncomfortable” and reminded fans that “no one should ever touch or grab a creator without permission.” Emiru said that even though she loves meeting her community, safety must come first. She thanked the security staff for acting fast but also said Twitch needs stronger rules to stop this before it happens. Emiru added that many creators, especially women, often feel unsafe during public fan meets. She said she supports adding stricter ID checks and more guards near the stage area. Emiru did not confirm if she would attend more public events until Twitch improves event safety.Twitch apologizes and promises action after viral incidentTwitch released an official statement soon after Emiru spoke. The platform said the fan’s behavior was “unacceptable and deeply upsetting.” Twitch confirmed it is already working with Emiru and the event team to review the situation. It said it follows a strict zero tolerance policy for harassment and unwanted physical contact. Twitch also shared that new safety updates may be announced before the next TwitchCon.These updates could include more security officers, better fan distance control, and faster staff response during meet-and-greets. Twitch did not release the name of the fan but confirmed he will most likely face a permanent event ban.TwitchCon is one of the biggest live events where fans meet streamers they usually watch online. The Emiru incident has started a larger talk about creator safety at public fan events. Many streamers in the past have raised similar concerns about fans crossing physical boundaries.Emiru is one of the most followed female creators on Twitch and is known for her gaming and cosplay streams. Her statement has received strong support online from many creators who now expect Twitch to bring stricter rules for future events.
