Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee found herself in the middle of a small online storm after a simple spelling mistake caught the attention of fans. A pop culture page on X shared a video of Lee dancing with rapper Ice Spice. The clip was meant to promote Ice Spice’s new song with Tokischa, titled ‘Thootie’. However, the page misspelled Lee’s surname in the caption, which quickly upset many followers.Instead of “Suni Lee,” the post referred to her as “Suni Li.” The mistake spread fast as fans rushed to the comments to defend the gymnast. While some focused on the error, others celebrated the unexpected collaboration between the Olympic champion and the pop star.

Fans troll Pop Crave for misspelling the Olympic champion Suni Lee’s name

The original post on X read, “Ice Spice and Olympic Gold Medalist Suni Li dance to ‘THOOTIE’ in new video.” Fans immediately noticed the mistake and expressed their frustration. One fan wrote, “Suni Li? Cmon Pop Crave, don’t do her dirty.” Another added, “Do your research and get her name right! Suni Lee*.” A third user urged a quick fix by saying, “Wdym LI??? Get her name right ffs.”Soon after the post went live, calls for correction filled the comment section. Many fans said that an account with such a large following should be more careful. They argued that correct naming is important, especially when it involves an Olympic icon with global recognition. Not everyone focused only on the spelling error. Some fans chose to enjoy the collaboration itself. One user commented, “Ice Spice linking up with an Olympic gold medalist was NOT on my 2025 bingo card.”This was not the first time Suni Lee and Ice Spice crossed paths. Back in October, the two met during Paris Fashion Week. They went viral after posting a TikTok dancing to ‘Baddie Baddie’. Several photos from that meeting also gained attention.Away from gymnastics, Lee is currently on a break from competition. She has been exploring modeling and building her social media presence. She also continues her work as an ambassador for the American Kidney Fund. In 2023, she revealed she had been diagnosed with a kidney-related illness that forced her to pause her NCAA season. She later made a strong return to elite gymnastics in 2024.Also Read: Olympic queen Gabby Thomas receives romantic birthday message from fiance Spencer McManes as he lights up her 29th celebration
