US Vice President JD Vance has pushed back against swirling speculation over President Donald Trump’s health, insisting that the 79-year-old leader remains in “incredible” condition and full of energy. “The president is in incredibly good health,” Vance told USA Today on Wednesday. “He’s got incredible energy. I feel very confident he is in good shape, will serve out the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people.” The remarks came amid a social media buzz triggered by viral clips showing a lighter cosmetic patch on Trump’s hand during his recent public appearances, including a visit to the People’s House museum in Washington DC and a FIFA World Cup event. Online remarks suggested possible health concerns, but the White House brushed off the speculation. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt highlighted Trump’s packed schedule of public engagements, stressing that he continues to actively interact with Americans, without directly addressing Donald Trump’s hand patch condition. Donald Trump is the oldest person ever sworn in as US president, was 78 when he began his second term in January 2025. JD Vance, at 41, is the third-youngest vice president in US history. When asked if he was prepared to assume the presidency should circumstances demand, Vance said he was ready but reiterated confidence in Trump’s ability to serve. “Yes, terrible tragedies happen,” he said. “But I can’t think of better on-the-job training than what I’ve had in the past 200 days. That said, I believe the president is strong, focused and leading from the front.” Vance also pointed to Trump’s demanding work routine, noting that despite being older than most of his staff, the president is “the last to go to bed, the last making calls at night, and the first up in the morning setting the day’s agenda.”
