Elon Musk, X’s chief, said that he is unaware of naked underage images being generated by the artificial intelligence chatbot, Grok, and added that it doesn’t produce anything illegal. He also said that there are exceptions when adversarial hacking of Grok prompts does something unexpected. “I am not aware of any naked underage images generated by Grok. Literally zero. Obviously, Grok does not spontaneously generate images, it does so only according to user requests. When asked to generate images, it will refuse to produce anything illegal, as the operating principle for Grok is to obey the laws of any given country or state,” Musk said while replying to a post. “There may be times when adversarial hacking of Grok prompts does something unexpected. If that happens, we fix the bug immediately,” he added. This came as several countries has tried to ban or criticise the Grok’s output. Recent reports indicated that the chatbot had been used to produce sexualised images, including depictions involving minors. In response to these concerns, xAI, the developer of Grok, announced that it would restrict image-generation and editing features to paying subscribers while improving its safety filters.
