During the livestream, Peters and his group stopped their airboat near what looked like an alligator in the water. In the video, he can be heard asking if they should shoot at it to check if it was alive. Another person then started firing, and Peters also joined in. Afterward, he said he believed the animal was dead. This moment became the main reason for the backlash online.Peters’ lawyers have responded by saying he was following the instructions of a licensed airboat guide. They also said that no people or animals were harmed during the incident.
