Utah authorities release video showing suspect

Utah department of public safety commissioner Beau Mason, during a Thursday night press conference, narrated the video, which shows the suspect running across the roof of a Utah Valley University campus building and then jumping onto the ground. The suspect, who remains unidentified, fled through the wooded area. He was seen wearing a shirt with an American flag with an eagle.

Fresh surveillance photos released

During the press briefing, Mason also shared fresh surveillance photos of the suspect and sought help from the public in identifying him. He asked the public to contact law enforcement with any tips.

Over 7,000 tips and leads received so far

Meanwhile, Utah governor Spencer Cox said that officials have received over 7,000 tips and leads in connection with the Charlie Kirk assassination case. “We, the public, have answered our call for action. So far, we’ve received more than 7000 leads and tips. I would just note that the FBI hasn’t received this many digital media tips from the public since the Boston Marathon bombing,” Cox said during a press conference on Thursday. “This case also highlights the dedication of our law enforcement community.” “We have 20 federal, state, and local law enforcement partners that are working shoulder to shoulder to find the person who committed this horrific crime,” he said. “With their support, we’ve completed nearly 200 interviews. As you’re aware, as has already been reported, the FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of the person responsible for the murder of Charlie Kirk.”

Death penalty for killer?

Cox further spoke about possible penalties for the person who shot and killed Kirk. “More than anything, we are going to catch this person,” he said. “Last thing I will just say is we’ve been working with our attorneys, getting everything that we need affidavits ready. So that we can pursue the death penalty in this case. And that will happen here in the state of Utah.”
