Camila Mendoza missing case: Investigators believe 19-year-old Texas teen may be in 'imminent danger'; probe may lead them outside US

In a chilling update to the case of the mysterious disappearance of 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos, who was last seen December 24 morning wearing pajama shorts and a hoodie, investigators now believe that the case may lead them to outside the US and that Mendoza might be in “imminent danger”. Her mother, when she woke up, thought her daughter had gone for her regular morning walk but Mendoza never returned. Her phone was left in the home, she did not even take her car. But she took the car keys and possibly also her driver’s license. Volunteers have been looking for the teen but there has been no breakthrough in the case yet. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said deputies and volunteers have been searching around the clock for the teen, adding that investigators are “not ruling out that this case may take us outside the borders of the continental United States,” CBS News reported.Investigators are exploring all the possibilities, including kidnapping, human trafficking and also the chance that she left on her own. Mendoza had recently gone through a mutual breakup, but the cops do not suspect anything nefarious as everyone close to her are cooperating, they said hinting at her ex-boyfriend. The cops also checked with the ICE whether she got detained but Salazar confirmed that he personally checked with the ICE and she was not detained and she has no reason to be detained as she is a US citizen. Olmos’ childhood best friend, Camila Estrella, said the two spoke on the phone Tuesday about going dress shopping for an outfit for Estrella’s boyfriend’s family event. “She said, ‘Bye Cami, I love you,’” Estrella recalled. “She was someone who was just full of love.”
