The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has unveiled a new initiative designed to energize Bahrain’s commercial sector during the festive season. Targeting owners of shops and commercial establishments, the program offers financial and operational support aimed at expanding promotional activities, increasing consumer spending, and strengthening local markets across the Kingdom.

Initiative overview and objectives

The National Incentive Initiative, announced by the Ministry, is timed to coincide with Bahrain’s festive period and forms part of ongoing efforts to stimulate local economic activity. The initiative is executed by the Ministry’s Consumer Protection Directorate and is primarily aimed at helping commercial shop owners enhance their promotional campaigns.Key features of the initiative include:

  • Exemption from promotional campaign fees for participating commercial establishments.
  • Extended duration for sales and discounts, effective from December this year until the end of 2025.

According to Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, these measures are intended to energize purchasing movements across all governorates of Bahrain while reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and owners of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Supporting local markets and consumers

The initiative is designed not only to benefit shop owners but also to stimulate consumer activity and economic circulation. By facilitating extended sales campaigns and promotional activities, the Ministry aims to:

  • Encourage consumers to shop from national stores.
  • Increase domestic spending rates.
  • Strengthen confidence in the local market by ensuring commercial establishments operate within regulatory guidelines.

Minister Fakhro highlighted that these steps contribute to a vibrant market environment during national festivities, allowing commercial establishments to fully participate in the Kingdom’s economic celebrations while maintaining fair trading practices.

Participation and regulatory oversight

Commercial shop owners and establishments wishing to benefit from the initiative are invited to coordinate directly with the Ministry’s Consumer Protection Directorate. Applications can be submitted via email at: promotion_enquiries@moic.gov.bh.The Ministry emphasized that regulatory oversight remains a central component of the program. By ensuring compliance with promotional regulations, the Consumer Protection Directorate aims to protect the rights of both traders and consumers while reinforcing trust in Bahrain’s commercial landscape.

Strategic significance

Minister Fakhro underscored that the National Incentive Initiative represents a critical partnership between the government and the private sector. Beyond boosting seasonal economic activity, the program aligns with Bahrain’s broader economic and developmental goals, positioning the Kingdom as a dynamic commercial hub and supporting its long-term vision of diversified economic growth.
