The Kingdom of Bahrain is set to pause its usual government operations next week as it prepares to celebrate two of its most significant annual occasions. Official announcement of public holidays

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, issued a circular confirming that all ministries, government departments, and public institutions will be closed on Tuesday, December 16, and Wednesday, December 17, 2025. The announcement applies to every government agency, public authority, and institution across the Kingdom. This circular formalizes the observance of the holidays, ensuring that both days are recognized nationwide for all government operations.

Significance of National Day and Accession Day

These two holidays are not just breaks from work, they symbolize Bahrain’s history, unity, and national identity. National Day celebrates the achievements and progress of the Kingdom, highlighting the unity of its people and the ongoing development under the leadership of His Majesty the King.Accession Day commemorates the anniversary of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s rise to the throne, reflecting on his leadership and the continuous efforts toward national growth and development. Together, these observances reinforce the shared pride and collective spirit of the Bahraini people.

Impact on citizens and government services

With the closure of all public institutions, residents and citizens should plan accordingly for any government related activities. Essential services may adjust schedules to accommodate the holidays, and the public is encouraged to check with respective ministries and departments for any specific operational changes during these two days. These celebrations offer an opportunity for reflection, national pride, and community gatherings, emphasizing Bahrain’s commitment to both tradition and forward looking development.
