Amazon has officially launched its first fulfilment centre in Abu Dhabi, developed in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO). Located in KEZAD, the facility brings advanced logistics, rapid delivery capabilities, and strategic support to local entrepreneurs and SMEs, while aligning with the UAE’s vision to strengthen its digital economy and global trade presence.

Strategic launch in KEZAD strengthens Amazon Fulfilment Centre Abu Dhabi network

The new fulfilment centre is located within Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD) and represents a key milestone in Amazon’s expansion across the UAE. The launch is a result of a strategic partnership between Amazon and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), aimed at enhancing logistics infrastructure, enabling faster delivery services, and enriching the product selection available to customers. The facility was officially inaugurated on 18 September 2025 during a high-level visit by senior government and business leaders, including:

  • Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED)
  • Badr Al-Olama, Director-General of ADIO
  • Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Customs
  • Mohamed Al Khadar Al Ahmad, CEO of KEZAD Group
  • Representatives from ADDED and Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce

Designed with a focus on operational excellence and technological innovation, the centre sets a regional benchmark in fulfilment capabilities, significantly expanding Amazon’s logistical reach across the UAE.

Technology and automation drive speed at Amazon Fulfilment Centre Abu Dhabi

The facility uses Amazon’s advanced automation technology to support same-day delivery across a broad product range in the UAE. Its operational efficiency is further reinforced by the support of Abu Dhabi Customs, whose smart clearance systems and trade facilitation efforts enable smooth and quick processing of goods.Key technology-driven features include:

  • Automated and AI-based customs and logistics systems
  • Integrated digital platforms for real-time tracking and process optimization
  • Analytics-led operations that reduce overall consumption and increase delivery speed

In support of this, Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori emphasized Abu Dhabi Customs’ commitment to building a smart, integrated customs ecosystem, powered by AI, data analytics, and automated services, in line with the Abu Dhabi Government’s broader vision to position the emirate as a global hub for intelligent trade.

Empowering SMEs and digital trade via Amazon Fulfilment Centre Abu Dhabi

According to Badr Al-Olama, the fulfilment centre supports several of Abu Dhabi’s priority economic sectors, including retail, wholesale trade, ICT, and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs). Through the partnership with ADIO, Amazon is providing infrastructure and tools that help SMEs grow and scale their online operations effectively.Nearly 50% of the centre’s space is allocated to sellers using the Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) service, allowing local and regional businesses to tap into Amazon’s storage, picking, packing, and shipping capabilities. This ecosystem gives selling partners the ability to reach millions of customers with improved speed and efficiency.Product categories stored and processed at the facility include:

  • Home and Kitchen
  • Groceries
  • Beauty Products
  • Electronics
  • And more than 30 total categories

The centre operates 24/7, ensuring consistent availability and fast delivery of high-demand items across the region.

Amazon Fulfilment Centre Abu Dhabi innovation lab and sustainability initiatives

One of the standout features of the new facility is its on-site Innovation Lab, which serves as a testing ground for future-focused fulfilment technologies. According to Amazon, the lab has conducted over 500 tests with a 93% success rate, leading to a 59% reduction in process lead times.Technologies and tools in use at the lab include:

  • 3D printing systems
  • Package testing equipment
  • Ergonomic assessment tools

These are used to improve operational efficiency, optimize employee workflows, and enhance customer service outcomes.Sustainability is also a key priority. The centre implements analytics-driven processes to cut down on resource usage and waste, reflecting Amazon’s commitment to embedding sustainable practices throughout its operations as it scales further in the UAE.
