The tomb reportedly dates between 800 and 1000 AD. Inside, skeletal remains lay surrounded by gold pectorals, bracelets, and earrings. Some of the jewellery features bats and crocodiles. Those animals had strong symbolic meanings for the societies in the area. It seems the person wearing the gold held the highest rank among the group. Ceramics decorated with traditional motifs were also placed alongside the body. Experts suggest the objects were not just decoration.
