A video showing a peon ringing the school bell for the last time after 38 years of service at Bishop Cotton Girls’ School in Bengaluru has gone viral. The clip shows students cheering as he completes the routine one final time. The video was shared on Instagram by a user named Ami Kutty and has garnered over 31 million views. “After 38 years, Das uncle rang his last bell the man who marked every morning, every memory at Cottons. His smile, his quiet dedication, his presence all part of the school’s heartbeat. Today, as he rang his last bell we celebrate him, Das uncle who made time itself feel familiar,” read the caption. In the comments, many users recalled memories of unsung school staff, noting how the quiet dedication of peons and guards left a lasting impression.”Just realised , thousands of das uncles rang their last bells across India .. unseen .. uncared for .. unsung !! Congratulations .. you are definitely lucky. thank you schools management and all the school kids for making this day so very special for him !” commented a user.”I remember hearing the bell for the last time before leaving Bcgs and seeing uncle again after so long here on his last day brings back really fond memories,” read another comment. “The number of times I have troubled him to ring the bell! He was always so kind to me, never said a word and always handled my naughtiness with a smile. Feeling so overwhelmed to see him ring the bell one last time. Miss those good old days when the same man used to ring the bell for us,” said another user.“Heartening to see the school management gave him a memorable farewell. God bless him,” commented a user.”Love this, celebrating things which were not even noticed earlier,” said a user.
